1970/Leningrad/USSR

G. Maiofis was born in the family of artists and architects;
1986-1989 – studied at Repin State Academic Institute (of Russian Academy of Arts), graphic art department;
1991- 1996 lived and worked in Los Angeles, USA;
1999 – started to work with video and digital camera;
2001 – started to make classical black and white photography by himself, use old shift-cameras and interested in old photographic processes and technologies;
2000 – 2002 – created his first photographic series of works entitled “Fables”;
2005 – started working on the “Proverbs” series, using alternative photographic techniques – bromoil and Van Dyke;
Currently lives and works in St. Petersburg, Russia
